First grade has changed a lot over the years. The students are expected to achieve more than ever before. How can they do this without being provided the materials to do it?
My students are in a high poverty public school that is over 70% low income.
This is something that already puts them at a disadvantage. They are not able to get extra materials at home to continue learning what has been introduced at school. For this reason, I want to be able to expose them to as many learning opportunities as possible! It is in my classroom where they get to take risks and open their minds to new learning experiences! I need your help to give them all of these experiences!
My Project
My students have 60 minutes of math, 60 minutes of reading, and 50 minutes of writing daily. In first grade, there are a lot of academic expectations. It has become difficult for many students to focus the whole time during these academic times. These wobble chairs and picnic chairs will allow my students to "get their wiggles out" while continuing to learn. I hope to provide my students alternative seating options that they can choose, so that they feel comfortable in the classroom and can better focus on their learning experiences.
These chairs will especially be great for my students with ADD and ADHD.
However, they will greatly benefit EVERYONE in the class. Please help me to get these items for my students' success!
