This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work in an inner city school in which 100% of my students come from low-income homes. Many of them face a variety of challenges both in and out of school that make their learning very difficult. A good majority of my class lacks a sense of stability and security that we know is essential in order for them to focus on school and become successful.
Any little thing we can do to help their learning is essential.
My students deserve a place to come every day that is warm, welcoming and safe. It is my goal to provide them with this by creating a classroom that shows that they are cared for.
My Project
Sitting still and paying attention for a long period of time is difficult for the children I work with. Flexible seating provides my students with seating options that allow them to release some energy and become more engaged in learning and participating in class.
With these Hokki stools, my students will have the ability to make choices about where they sit and how they can be the most successful in class.
My students are excited to have the option of seating in a flexible chair that can help them focus better in class. Please help my classroom by achieving this goal!
