Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from a Title 1 school where 100% receive free breakfast and most are on free and reduced lunch. I am honored to work with them daily to improve behavior, social skills, reading, and math skills.
I see each of my students anywhere from 30 minutes to 60 minutes per day for reading, math, behavior, social skills lessons, as well as for inclusion and pull out services, or serve as a cool down spot.
As an educator entering my 21st year, I am still excited to teach and provide my students with materials that allows them success in all aspects of their learning.
Lastly, my classes are 90% male and 10% female and everyday they keep me on my toes, (and young)!
My Project
My students will be happy, engaged in their work while they get the wiggles out on their new seating without disturb their learning or others around them. Lessening redirection because students are comfortable and at ease is the goal and these seating choices provide that opportunity.
Perfect lighting, overall aesthetics, a comfy-home feeling will provide for all learners on multiple levels.
Swapping out desks for tables, bean bags, and alternative seating provides for motivation, engagement, and personal responsibility on the student's part.
Helping my students keep focus and provide a calm, serene atmosphere along with best practices for my students will ensure success in an already busy and sometimes hectic day for them.
