I work with about 50 students who are working on articulation and language goals to help improve their communication. I have a wide range of students from age three up to third grade.
My students attend a school of around 800 students in a fast growing area.
As a speech pathologist, I work with students who have difficulty producing certain speech sounds or have difficulty with language skills such as following directions or being able to express themselves effectively.
My Project
My students will use these tubs to work on their goals. One way to use them would be with a speech student who is working on a particular speech sound such as /g/. We could put the manipulatives in the sensory box and dig them out and practice saying the words using our best /g/ sound. Another way to use these tubs would be to work on vocabulary, describing, and using complete sentences. When the child finds an item in the tub they could either name the item, use their best sentence to tell something about the item, and use a complete sentence depending on their level. There are many ways to use these tubs to work on speech and language goals!
Donations to my project will improve my classroom by giving the students a new and fun way to work on their goals.
These alphabet tubs will give my students new ways to work on improving their communication skills!
