My first-grade students are diverse hands-on learners. These students, being in their early years of learning, are eager to work and learn through actively moving around the room. Working together in cooperative groups, with hands-on materials will promote positive interactions and enable them to form relationships. Engaging them in imaginative and educational tools allows students to learn from each other and problem solve.
Also, setting up the classroom in a student-centered environment allows for optimal learning to occur.
Using manipulatives and flexible seating, my students will be on the road to becoming lifelong learners.
My Project
My students need a Learning Letters Activity Classroom Carpet in the classroom to allow them freedom to choose where to work. Many hours over the course of a week are spent with the students working in small groups rotating around the room. With this new carpet, the students will have a cozy, special spot to work!
Also, my students can use this rug to meet as a whole class to have academic discussions.
With this carpet being sectioned off into individual spots, this will help with quick transitions as each child will know which personal space is theirs. The alphabet is displayed on the carpet which allows the extra bonus of incorporating phonic lessons into the routine of the day!
