This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are the reason for me to wake up every morning. They are sweet, bright, enthusiastic, creative, and at the same time, challenging. Each of them come to school with one goal, to learn.
More than 80% of my students are qualified for free or reduced-price lunch.
75% of them are identified as African-American, 25% are identified as Hispanic. Most of them have a single parent who has more than one job. Our classroom is an ICT classroom and almost 1/3 of our students have an IEP. We are doing the best we can with the abilities and resources we have, but you can be our extra support!
My Project
Honestly, we just really need a lot of cleaning supplies (oh - and some breakfast for students who come in too late for breakfast). Allergy season is here and we use about two boxes of facial tissues per week!
Since the second half of the school year, we ran out of the supplies donated by parents and I have been buying our facial tissues, paper towels, and hand sanitizer with my own expenses.
We need cleaning supplies to make sure that everything we do is clean and hygienic, which will reduce the risks of my students getting sick and being absent. Breakfast is also very important because it’s hard for hungry students to focus. Ultimately, your donation will significantly improve my students’ quality of life in school that would affect their academic achievement.
