My classroom consists of wonderful and talented students. I am a middle school special education teacher that teaches both general education students, as well as students with disabilities. Our school is a wonderful learning community, here to serve children of all needs and capabilities. The students in our school are amazing kids who face extreme challenges in and outside of the classroom due to high poverty.
Our school is also a Leader in Me school, where students receive weekly instruction based on Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
We are a Title I public school. Our students receive free breakfast and lunch. We work hard to make our classroom a community and a family away from home. To make this happen, we have a variety of places in our classroom to learn in many different ways.
My Project
Each year I spend hundreds of dollars of my own money around allergy season to make sure my students have tissues and paper towels, two basic necessities during the spring months. I also purchase Lysol wipes to deep clean the desks at least once a week. I have several classes that rotate so I wouldn't want them to catch each other's germs! This year I am anticipating needing a lot more since I have 150 students and we do not have any windows in our room.
My students will utilize these hygiene items each day.
By funding this project you are impacting my students' attendance, learning, and participation in more ways that I could ever explain.
