I have a very diverse group of students who have faced many challenges in their short lives. In our area, financial hardship is real.
I am so lucky to teach in a school where everyone works to meet the diverse needs of all of our students.
Our little school is special, but because we are so rural our declining enrollment is having a negative impact on our budget. There isn't enough funding to provide the extras that make a classroom both functional and a little extra special. I do what I can personally but it is never enough.
My Project
My students love to be creative! Whether its making cards for a sick classmate or building a model out of construction paper, they get so excited when we start coloring, cutting and gluing!
We love doing interactive notebooks and using the colored paper for the pages make them so extra special and colorful!
We use card stock for so many games and learning aids such as task cards. Using the card stock is such a time saver for the following years-it holds up so well.
Have you ever tried glue sponges? We tried them for the first time this year and my students got such a kick out of them and they work so well. Put a sponge in a plastic sandwich size container, pour liquid glue over it and you have a glue sponge! Works much better than glue sticks!
