Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are unique individuals who come to school eager to learn each and every day. Each one of them learns best through the use of a variety of teaching techniques and approaches to help meet their individual needs. They enjoy being challenged despite the challenges they face in their day to day lives.
Their courage is best defined by their ability to do something they know is difficult.
Seeing my students persevere to overcome their difficulties inspires me to continue to find new ways to aid their academic success.
My Project
When children read and hear stories, they are exposed to a wider range of words, and it helps them develop their language skills, This helps them add new words to their vocabulary which improves their understanding when they read. This knowledge is vital as they start to read longer and more complex books. Understanding the written word is one way the mind grows in its ability which is crucial for young minds.
Books can take you anywhere you want to go.
This is only possible when kids have a wide range of books to choose from that are also available to them in their language. I've seen how excited kids can become when they see a new book on subjects that they enjoy reading about. This excitement for reading will help increase their fluency and motivation to continue to read even as adults.
