This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach art classes and computer classes at an alternative high school to give at-risk students another chance to succeed at their education when, for what ever reason, the student has not been successful in a typical high school setting.
Our school goal is to prepare each student for the next step in their education after high school, whether it be college, a trade school or military service. My computer class is designed to help the students learn skills that will aid them in college or at the work site. When teaching in the computer class many of the skills need to be demonstrated to the students. I take time to work with each student personally at their computer seat. I repeat instructions and demonstrations as needed for each student. Some students grow impatient waiting for their turn for individual assistance from their teacher.
Students learn through many different modes. Seeing the computer skills demonstrated on a large screen would provide another way for a lesson to be presented to students. They would be able to clearly see the steps that they need to accomplish. The LCD projector would enable the teacher to present material clearly to all of the students at the same time.
Your help in providing an LCD projector for our computer class would allow our at-risk students to receive information more efficiently so that they can work up to their maximum potential.
