This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am an Elementary School Counselor to almost 500 students, Kindergarten through 4th grade in Howard-Suamico. Right next door to our GREEN BAY PACKERS! They are the hardest working, most kind and caring kids around. They show up each day ready to learn and grow focusing on becoming the best they can be. Our focus for the beginning of 2020 has been growth mindset and becoming resilient learners.

There are many obstacles that my students face each day that make each of them so special and amazing.

The sense of family among students and staff is an inspiration to many, making MES a very special place to be.

My Project

There's no hiding the major crisis we see in the world when it comes to mental health. My goal at out school is to be able to address emotional regulation while teaching students strategies to co-regulate and independently regulate, supporting mental health among all young students.

The materials and tools purchased in this Donors Choose will support student self regulation and allow students to take emotional breaks when needed throughout their busy and rigorous academic schedule.

Students will benefit from cozy seating, sensory tools and manipulative items in a space that allows students to simply relax and gather themselves when the going gets tough.
