As students at an arts-focused middle school, my students benefit from opportunities to dance, draw, act, and perform on a daily basis. We have focused as a school community on using our precious school funding to support those endeavors, but that leaves little for other materials.
My task as their Language Arts teacher is to teach these creative thinkers that reading and writing are also arts - ones that they will use on a daily basis, no matter where their lives will take them.
As students coming from all over the city, from a variety of neighborhoods, families, and backgrounds, they will take their skills and talents back to their immediate communities to improve life all over the city.
These creative, young minds need all the help they can get to express their thoughts in today's technological world.
My Project
Our class has greatly benefited over the last couple of years from daily access to computer technology. Little by little, we have assembled close to a class set of Chromebooks for reading, research, writing, and publishing. We need just a little help to finish our set.
Two more Chromebooks will ensure that every student has access every single day.
As well, where there are 30 Chromebooks, there needs to be a place for them to be secure, safe, and organized. A cart is vital at this point to utilize these resources with efficiency that is essential in a middle school classroom.
