My Project

My kids call me "The Feelings Teacher" - and as the school social worker, I feel really lucky to get to work with them to build their social skills, process their emotions and navigate challenges like grief, trauma, anxiety, parent separation and divorce and more. My superpower is love and hugs and I work with students individually as well as in groups. They come see me when they're having a hard time in class or with friends.

I will use the items requested in my individual and class sessions - for example, using the art supplies and sand as mediums to help students express their feelings, the clay to demonstrate transformation, the books and games as ways to help them talk about what they're going through, the yarn to make grief blankets, and more.
