My classroom is one full of diverse students from all over the world. Many of the students who step through the door of my classroom are first generation Americans, or they immigrated to America as a child. These differing backgrounds gives a unique experience for each students who steps into my classroom to learn about different cultures than their own.
My students come from different ranges of literacy and English understanding, which makes teaching these students to love reading and to read on their own is an essential skill.
My students may or may not come with a love of reading, and they come to the classroom with many different personal experiences, and I want to use those experiences and backgrounds to guide students into a love of reading and expressing themselves through writing.
My Project
Often the joy of reading dies out after elementary school, but it is my goal to change that, one book at a time. I hope to bring the love of reading back into my classroom. Education is changing every single day, and so are the interest of my students. Students in my classroom like to read about everything from Nicholas Sparks romance to thriller mysteries. My school media center doesn't have a large collection of books, so I would like to have books will hold their interests and keep them reading in my classroom.
My desire is to bring back the love of paper back books, but requires your help!
The books I have selected have already been selected by my students and they are excited to have them physically in hand.
