My Students

I teach a wonderful group of 10th and 11th graders who come to school daily ready to learn. They are enthusiastic learners who are eager to gain as much enrichment as they possibly can. My students are given the incentive to thrive in their learning by competing with their peers in groups and individually.

All of my students attend a Title I school and all receive free lunch.

Even though they face many challenges such as high poverty, unemployment, inadequate healthcare, etc., they still remain ever tenacious in meeting and exceeding the standards. I am overjoyed in not only seeing my students learn something new but have fun while learning something new as well.

My Project

My project is being used as a tool to show how appreciative I am of my students and all of their hard work. Students, especially on the high school level, need to be reminded of their achievements outside of the As and Bs they make on their exams. They need something tangible sometimes to show how appreciated they are.

With so many high schoolers considering dropping out of high school, they have to be given a reason outside of the rigor of classwork to motivate them to do their very best in school.

By continually praising and acknowledging my students for their good work, I know that I will see more motivation and determination not only in their education but also in their outlook on life. Gift cards and snacks are a great way to keep my students motivated.
