I am a fourteen year veteran in the field of Special Education. I teach 10-13 year olds (fifth and sixth grade ) in an Emotional Support classroom setting. My students are respectful, kind and hard-working individuals who have great potential, however sometimes against their best judgement and efforts, it does not come across that way behaviorally, socially, or academically. My students work daily to change their default setting to be appropriate and positive with teacher guidance and support.
I am happy to help my students be their best selves, and reach their daily goals.
The students love to tell stories, plan and play jokes, and play games to retain information. The students enjoy hands on activities to learn information, working diligently to take brain breaks on preferred activities. I encourage this especially when the students are striving to have appropriate, desired and respectful behavior. I am a firm believer that rapport with students means a lot and goes a long way…kids don’t work for people they don’t like.
Students love working for motivators that they enjoy! These chairs will appeal to my sports fans who need an extra incentive to complete work timely and appropriately. Through interest and reinforcement surveys, I have found most of my students prefer sports related items.
These chairs in particular will be a great motivator for any student who prefers sports or sensory reinforcement.
Motivation is the key to success! Students thrive in a motivated and comfortable work space. When students have flexible options of where to complete assignments, it is more likely that the child will be successful and fully engaged in learning.
