Our school provides early intervention services for children ages 3 to 5 with various developmental delays. Students receive services such as occupational therapy, physical therapy, and/or speech and language therapy while attending a special education preschool.
I believe that all children should be able to experience a hands-on, developmentally appropriate preschool regardless of their abilities, and that is what I strive to do every day.
I love to learn and hope to provide my students the same love of learning through play and exploration!
My Project
My students need more practice sorting by different attributes such as color, type and size. The math counters like the dinosaurs will be a great addition to our bear counters and give us more materials to sort. The trays will allow us to visually sort the materials by color, shape, type, or size. Once we are able to sort the items, the remaining trays will help us learn to pattern, count using one to one correspondence, and graph! These are all important skills we need as we prepare for kindergarten. The larger trays will also let us sort other items that we already have in our classroom or even bigger things like leaves we collect on our hikes. The possibilities of items we can sort, count, pattern, and graph will be greatly increased with these trays and materials.
