Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The majority of our students are English language learners. Our students live in a low income urban neighborhood, some even going through difficult situations including being homeless. Homelessness, guns and gang violence are a regular part of life in their community. Our school is their safe haven. A place where they know they are welcome, loved and supported. Our school works hard to help students embrace their language and culture and life experiences to work towards helping to improve their community. We are striving to help them see the value in education and lifelong learning.
My Project
Sometimes lice happens, but not all our students families can afford the expensive treatments necessary to get rid of them. Our students come to school eager to learn despite the struggles that they often encounter. No student should have to deal with a lice infestation. We have kind and amazing students at our school. However, there are many years of school that can be difficult as students are forming their self image. We want to do everything that we can to make these difficult years and transitions as easy as possible. Your donations towards these lice kits will go a long way in helping our students.
