My Students

I have started a new teaching position at a beautiful central Illinois school. My students are kindergartners to twelfth graders. I teach general music to K-6 students and choir to 7-12 grades. They are eager to work hard to be someone they dream to be. I would love to see them sparkle when they learn different skills and knowledge.

I would like my students to enjoy music throughout their school years.

I played some piano music and they really like to learn piano. It would be neat to see them grow in their knowledge and skill since I teach K-12 grades. That is a neat aspect of my job.

My Project

I believe that playing the piano is a lifetime hobby that will enrich a person's life and that, when learned earlier in life, could be a foundation for one's musical experience later on. Playing the piano helps my students to sing in tune and play other instruments with the correct rhythm and pitch. It helps with music reading and expression. Since the piano is a unique instrument that can have many voices within it, playing the piano would be helpful in understanding and properly participating in a musical ensemble whether it be singing in a choir or playing in a band or an orchestra.
