My Students

I teach creative, energetic, disadvantaged, trauma students the elements of art, art history, and designing creative projects. I have been amazed at their hidden talents in drawing, painting, and pottery skills. Yet, many of my students have difficulty creating simple drawings leaving them with negative thoughts about themselves and their art skills. These are some of the comments they have verbalized in the art studio that left me devastated.

"I hate art" or "all my friends are great at drawing, but I am horrible”, “when will I /we ever use this stuff," or simply saying " This is too hard and I can't do it."

Art is so much more. It can be a safe pallet for creativity and sharing emotions for trauma students. The solution is Apple Pencil 2nd Generation.

My Project

I have worked hard to take my art classroom from the stone age of art materials into the world of technology through graphic designing with the use of iPads. We lack one valuable technology tool to go with our iPads, Apple Pencil 2nd Generation.

Apple pencils will allow my students to add details to their Stop Motion projects and turn their selfies into unique cartoon versions of themselves.

They can add their own animation to their own frame-by-frame drawings, plus are inspired by Contemporary artists like Jason Naylor and create colorful murals depicting uplifting messages by the use of online drawing platforms.
