My Students

My students are seventh and eighth grade inclusive special education students. They love to experience the school environment with their general education peers. My students are working hard to meet their yearly goals both academic and behavioral. They work hard every day and are excited about new challenges. They are constantly pushing themselves and exceeding my expectations.

It's amazing to see my students tackle all curriculum with the willingness to try their best no matter how hard it may be.

My Project

Classroom sound technology has been shown to have positive effects on behavior for students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Research shows similar positive changes in the listening behavior of students with learning disabilities. These PA systems have also been proven to help students with speech perception abilities for children with Down Syndrome and Autism. Special Education is seeing higher numbers of students with IEP's in the general education classroom. We want to provide them with tools to become less dependent on the support of an adult and give avenues to push students to learn more independently through listening behaviors and self-advocacy. These systems would be used to provide support for students in the general education classroom who are both disabled and non-disabled.
