All I Really Need to Know... Super Kids, Social Skills
My students need books and games, like those by Julia Cook and Peaceable Kingdom, to learn and practice the important social skills that will allow them to be successful throughout their lives.
My students are enthusiastic, curious, and eager to learn! Our district is classified as High Poverty. With 100% eligible for free breakfast and a majority eligible for free or reduced lunch, many students encounter incredible challenges in and out of the classroom on an on-going basis. Despite this, my students come to school with a fierce determination to try new things.
My students inspire me daily!
They are hands-on and energetic. Learning in a Dual Language Program, they amaze me with their ability to conquer fresh new ideas and materials through lively activities and discussions.
My Project
My students need books about social skills and games to practice those skills. While early education creates an important foundation for academic skills, social skills are actually far more predictive of outcomes into adulthood than early academics.
Studies have show a significant correlation between social skills observed in Kindergarten and an individual's well-being at age 25.
Robert Fulgham wrote "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" twenty-five years ago. It still rings true today!
While my teammates and I have always spent time on social skills each day in our three classrooms, all our students would benefit from these resources we will share!
