My Students
I have a very excitable group of fourth-graders who aren’t afraid to make mistakes. They have learned to become risk-takers this year because we learn through mistakes. We’ve learned that our actions have positive consequences and negative consequences.
We have learned that even though we come from different backgrounds and experiences, we are still family.
They learn best through hands-on learning. My students rarely miss school because they truly love learning. They are like sponges and are constantly wanting more. My fourth graders are at different learning levels. Some need reteaching of skill, while others need the extra encouragement for enrichment.
My Project
I am looking to add a Newline TruTouch smart board in my classroom to help with student engagement and collaboration. With COVID, students have a set parameter where they can and can not go in a classroom. I can see where they feel limited in being able to express themselves. I want them to be able to get up and move to the board to work out their math problems or justify their answers in a reading piece.
Having an interactive display board will allow my students to show their thinking to the whole class - where everyone would be able to see it.
Students would be able to show independent thinking, as well as group work through different programs such as PowerPoint or even one that would show all of the student responses at once.
Students love being the teacher and show off their learning. This board would allow for that to happen. When my students are able to teach the skill or standard to another, I know they truly understand the concept being taught. With this board, they will be able to show that they know it for sure!
