Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Kindergarten is such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals. Some of my students require a variety of sensory learning experiences to assist with learning to read, write, and count, and manipulate classroom materials. While some of their classmates are learning to imitate sounds or hold a paintbrush. Our group is eager to learn, loves to play outside, and learn new games. They absolutely enjoy hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think and be successful. They come to school each day ready to try new things and take chances in order to grow both personally and academically. They fulfill my role as an Occupational Therapist.
My Project
Learning readiness skills is best accomplished through multi-sensory experiences. The Magnetic letter builder will help with learning letters and writing while helping build the self-esteem that they need. My students learn through a variety of experiences that are fun, hands-on and challenging. Building students confidence through fun prewriting activities promotes the motivation and excitement needed to succeed in their writing skills.
The best way to increase writing ability is to write more, and the magnetic letter builder will help my students grow stronger in their writing skills.
A few of my students work best when provided with adaptive pencil grips allowing them to develop an efficient grasp thus decreasing hand fatigue and having a significant effect on handwriting speed, letter formation, spatial organization. How fun would it be to pretend play and write a menu with Create- A - Burger sequencing activity or even use crinkle craft cutting scissors to make silly letters and words for our bulletin board. My students already have shown an enthusiastic interest in using letters and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the magical world of letters.
