My Students

A Classroom Library for Curious 2nd Graders!

Help me give my students a high-interest, leveled classroom library to promote super-reading!

After starting my 2nd grade classroom about a month ago, I quickly discovered all of the wonderful things my students have to offer.

My classroom is full of curious kiddos that absolutely love to learn. About one third of my class is comprised of English Language Learners from a variety of countries and backgrounds, the majority being from Mexico. Therefore, my instruction seeks to provide them with meaningful and access to English while advancing the skills of my native speakers as well.

My Project

Providing students with on-level, engaging texts can help them progress to reading at or above grade level by the end of the school year.

Since my classroom currently doesn't have many books, providing students with a plethora of books can serve to pique their curiosity and allow them to put their new "super" reading skills to practice.

The books included in this set are a mix of high-interest fiction, and nonfiction books from levels I-M. Students begin 2nd grade at a level I and are expected to finish at a level M.

I also plan to use the books for our guided reading block, to help students practice key reading skills and promote understanding of concepts about print.
