This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have difficulty following along as I model information using certain assignments or workbook pages. I repeat the same conversation 20 times because I want to correct errors or convey an important strategy for writing an explanation.
I teach 2nd grade in a Title 1 school located in Brooklyn, N.Y.
All of my students receive free lunch and the community is at poverty level. Due to recent budget cuts our school is unable to supply such an important necessity in the classroom. The students have diverse academic needs but everyone would benefit from a visual tool. Having a document camera will improve the class as a whole academically.
My Project
My students need a document camera to assist with visual learning. This tool will be used to review workbook, tests, homework, and other required assessments. This would also allow me to take advantage to many teachable moments. All students would have eyes on one text document, picture, graph, or object at the same time.
By donating a document camera to my classroom the students will benefit immensely.
This will drive my eager students to focus on instruction as a whole. We will be able to teach, review, revise as a whole. This will make learning more realistic to students.
