My precious students come to school each day knowing they are going to do something exciting to learn math and science! Our classroom is comprised of a sweet group of 4th graders. They attend a Title I school which is located in a beautiful rural area in the mountains of Tennessee. Many of our students, about 70% are from low-income families and would rather be at school than at home, where they feel safe, receive hot meals, and are supported by caring adults.
Our students learn science best when they are seeing science happen and experience hands-on learning.
They are so enthusiastic when they discover how things work in the world and are anxious to learn more and research to answer the questions they have about science.
I incorporate STEM learning within my math and science lessons so that students experience those subjects in a hands-on way. It's important that children of this age actually "experience" the how and why in the areas of math, science, and engineering concepts using visual tools so that they gain an understanding of certain abstract ideas in these subjects.
My Project
This iPad charging cart will accommodate up to ten iPads and make sure that the iPads are ready to go whenever learning begins. The iPads now are charged one-at-a-time and are not always ready when students need access to the internet or want to use educational apps loaded on the iPads.
With this charger, students will have access to digital learning because the iPads will be ready to go when they are!
Throughout the day, students have questions about what they are learning, practice math skills, and create projects to show their learning.
The iPads we have in class provide a means for students to maximize their learning experiences, whether it be in math, science, or during STEM-related problem based learning experiences.
