My Students
My students are the loves of my life. Each student comes into our school with such a different story and personality. Each student is drastically different, and those traits make me love each student so much more. Our district is tough, and our students' home lives make me feel fortunate in how I grew up. But each and every day they come in with as much love as they have to give that day. We all make it work and give 110% to give each student the love, support, and happiness they need while continuing to teach them.
My Project
Our world is changing every minute of every day. Therefore as teachers we need to recognize the change, spend time learning how the change effects the students and putting into action a plan that will afford us the opportunity to teach to those changes. Each day, my students enter the classroom with a variety of learning differences. These learning differences can lead to the students needs not being met and their focus decreasing. Unfortunately, when students are not fully engaged they tend to fidget, walk around, constantly take breaks and complain. Those students often struggle with focusing and this impacts their learning for the day.
Flexible seating gives me the option to fit the needs of each student which will increase the focus of each student.
Noticing that the majority of my students find themselves not engaged throughout the day, I must find a way to decrease the fidgeting and increase the engagement. This is when flexible seating is the most successful. Flexible seating gives the students options of different seating during their day. These different seats allow the students to get their energy out without distracting others. The wobble seat allows the student to sway back and forth. The tractor seats are for those who don't need a normal chair to learn. The wobble cushions are great for those active learners who prefer to be closer to the ground so they can stretch their legs out! Each seat gives a different position and a different movement break for the student. If the student are receiving those movement breaks without having to leave their seat the less distraction each student will have. The less distraction will lead to more student engagement and every student wanting to come to school because their classroom is so awesome!
