Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember what it felt like the first time you did something all by yourself? That is the feeling I want to give my students!
I teach first and second grade students with autism.
My students often require one-to-one in order to learn new skills. It can be difficult for them to remember what step comes next and they often rely on step-by-step prompts to help them get from start to finish.
My Project
I am requesting an assortment of activities that will help my students be independent. The magnetic scene building kits will enable them to create a scene all by themselves. The puzzles are self-correcting and the kids will feel a sense of accomplishment when they complete them all by themselves. The workbooks are also designed to help the kids work independently.
Accomplishing things independently is the first step in building internal motivation.
This is exactly what my students with autism need. Your contribution to this project will make a difference as I work to create independent individuals in my classroom.
