This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Students at my school in Georgia want to learn and are looking for ways to become more engaged in their reading. I am a librarian at a PreK-5th grade school, and I serve students who are economically disadvantaged. Most of my students do not have books in their homes and rely heavily on the school's library to provide books for them. They come to the library asking about the latest books and I want to be able to provide them with engaging books. We want to continue to cultivate this excitement for reading in our school!
My Project
Do you remember your favorite book as a student? Was it The Secret Garden or Hatchet? Do you tell others about this book? Will you help me find a book my students love?
Help me to create this love and joy of reading with my students!
I want teachers to be able to teach literature through these fantastic novels.
I have selected 5 popular fiction novels to purchase as small group sets. These books will be stored in the library for teachers to check out and read with their classes in literature circles. These novels will be used to teach literary concepts as well as life lessons.
