This school has stolen my heart from the moment I got hired. The students are spectacular! Each day is unique and brings its own flair.
After seeing a need for it, we have officially started a GSA (Genders and Sexualities Alliance) Club!
A GSA Club allows students to connect with their peers and have a connection to their school while being able to talk with other students who are part of the LGBTQ+ community and their Allies.
My Project
For GSA (Gender and Sexualities Alliance) We meet Monday's after school. During those meetings we talk about community issues, school issues and personal issues.
We SUPPORT Each other!
When the students come in and we begin the meeting, you can see the weight lifted off of their shoulders. They feel welcome, accepted, and comfortable.
With meeting after school, they are always hungry so the snacks will be amazing for them. Additionally, we are doing a group tie-dye project where we will all get white t-shirts and be able to tie-dye them to represent themselves and their possible LGBTQ flag they align. Beyond our tie-dyeing activity, we do a lot of "Comfort" activities that make them feel safe and comfortable with each other.
