My students are completely amazing, and teach me everyday! They vary in ages and grades. They bravely fight to overcome sensory issues, learning difficulties, and disabilities. They have communication barriers-for most are non-verbal, while the others fight to get their voice out. A large part of our day is learning how to communicate as we work on speech and literacy. They have captured my heart with their love for others, and their desire to learn. They just learn different, and different is great!
My Project
There are a lot of skills to be able to do with money: counting money, counting money up to a specific amount, determining enough/not enough, using a mixture of coins, making change etc.
Money is a make or break skill for functional independence, and when it comes to finance skills, I have students on a wide range of levels.
I am asking for talking calculators with voice control, for my students that are non-verbal, or have sound sensory. With the calculators my students will use them in conjunction of the different games I am requesting:
A. money rods-add up the value, compare values, and order the rods from least to greatest.
B. self-inking coin stamps with the manilla paper- add up the values, compare values, and order from least to greatest.
C. the money puzzles-match coins with their correct money value, add up coins to reach the total.
