Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My elementary students are ready to explore the music world around them. My students are sweet and always ready to love and learn. Playing games together or with the teacher is a special treat for them.
These kiddos are in the heart of a bustling technology-heavy location but still have the drive to create concrete and organic connections with each other through the power of music and dance.
The socioeconomic backgrounds of many of these students hinders their ability to create and learn about quality music or music from around the world.
My Project
All about that Bass instruments will create a harmonic parameter for students to create, play, and sing to their own musical compositions. With the bass bars playing, students will be able to hear when chords change and make connections between different chords relationships. With this heavy bass beat, students of all ages will be encouraged to dance, move, and groove to their compositions.
The wooden building blocks will support the musical building blocks of rhythm and melody.
We will transform these wooden building blocks to have music notes on them. With these wooden block notes, students will be able to make connections between the horizontal and vertical connections of notes on a staff, the relationship between different meters and note values, and the mathematical equality of notes.
