Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I work at a school located in a community near downtown Orlando. It is a Tile I school and the majority of the students receive free and reduce lunch. I'm the first grade teacher at my school. Right now my class stands at twenty-four students. Eight-four percent are African Americans, fourteen percent are Hispanic, and two percent are White. Most of the students live in rent controlled apartments with extended families such as mom, dad, siblings, grandma, and grandpa.

I believe that the first years in a child's education are the building blocks into their future.

If we nurture and provide for them they will have a strong foundation. So let's believe in them.

My Project

These headphones will continue to enhance the enrich activities within my classroom. My classroom is a place where my students really enjoy books online. They complete work using their iPads, and they work with boom cards independently at center time! Every student headphone that is given to our classroom will be treated with love and care, and my students will be so thankful for the opportunities to to use them.

Students will be able to work independently with their headphones, which will help them continue to enjoy independent learning within my classroom.

It will given them the opportunity to engage with technology and grow as a learner.
