My students are engaged and ready to learn and they deserve the best we can give them. I teach incredible students that are motivated learners in an Honors program. My classroom is unique because I pull the top 10-15% and provide a curriculum that is both academically rigorous and providing opportunities for extended growth and development. My focus includes language arts and STEAM.
My school is a title I school, and all of my students receive free lunch.
My students are ready to take on the future!
My Project
Children need hands-on activities that challenge their thinking. I have gathered a number of materials that do just that. I teach Honors and my students are bright young minds. For most, school is not a challenge. In fact, most haven't faced many challenges until they get to me. I have found that often my students have trouble distinguishing their involvement in activities and self-monitoring themselves.
They will always believe they gave 100% effort when in fact they gave up when they started to struggle.
I realized that many bright students need to be taught how to struggle and persevere.
By teaching students to work through STEM struggles and persevere they will be more successful learners. Students also need to be able to realistically evaluate their efforts to improve performance and grit. By using the STEM challenges I can encourage these lessons.
