Ms. Canull from Baltimore MD is requesting educational kits & games through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need replacement items for classroom learning through play items that have worn out and some new items to supplement new curriculum tasks.

My students come to class from a neighborhood in Baltimore City that has been around much longer than they have. Many of the students are from families with a very low socioeconomic status. The students' are lucky to have the chance to get a jumpstart on education by entering Pre-Kindergarten. Beginning a full-day program at four years old is a tough job for my littler learners. Keeping them actively engaged and learning for the entire school day is a tough task.
Imagine you are aboard a train, chugging along down the track and you encounter some trouble. The train needs repairs. What do you do? My Pre-K students are having this very issue. There are some tools for play based learning in our classroom that are in need of repair or replacement. We are requesting the various trains (Train Set, Farm Train & Cargo Train) to replace broken train wheels and tracks. The Happy Family Wooden Geometric Dollhouse will replace a very vintage plastic house that has been glued back together again for a temporary fix. The Playdoh is needed to replace well used and beginning to dry out Playdoh. Classroom supplies cannot last forever, and in order for the students to continue using imaginary play with trains, dollhouse or Playdoh we need to add additional supplies. Imaginary play based learning is so important to help develop social skills, language, vocabulary and more. It keeps the students engaged and active which is so important for young learners.
Visual images and tactile items help young learners understand more about the many topics they learn about.
Garden Insects and Super Bug Set will provide some concrete materials we can use, study and pretend play with as we learn about insects. We can look for similarities and differences, use language to describe an insect, or count insects. The linking cubes and geometric shapes will supplement our math lessons and even other content. They can be used to count, sort, describe, build with and explore. Wear and tear is expected on favorite item in our classroom and as careful as we are things still don't last forever. Will you help the students, their insects, shapes, and dollhouse and train get replaced so they can keep chugging along down the learning track?
