My students need phonics manipulatives, big books, and sentence building manipulatives to help them learn new sight words and to practice reading and writing skills.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
A typical day in my classroom is fun, exciting, full of laughs and learning. My students are eager to learn, and our day is full of hands on learning, discussions about stories, life, what-ifs, and how comes. Our every day schedule includes writing, reading, math, science, and social studies.
I am a first year teacher, in a high-poverty school, that caters to the needs of a small knit community.
Our student population has 99% free and reduced lunches. They come to school eager for learning, but also in need of a loving, caring environment that will help build them, into a well-rounded individual.
My students are eager, loving, and excited to be in school. They are question askers, and problem solvers. They love to read, write, and explore all that my room has to offer.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting will help my small learners grow into amazing students, that have fostered a love for learning.
The books will excite them to want to read, and share that experience with other classmates. They can use these large books to sit on the reading carpet, and enjoy a story, with their reading partner.
The writing and reading manipulative's will help all my learners gain an extra boost in learning their sight words, while having an engaging literacy center to work in. My students love to write me small moment stories and letters. Having these materials available to them, will give them so much joy in their learning, here at school. They will be able to create their sight words, using the stampers, and the sentence builders, will help them gain confidence in their reading skills. The school supplies are materials that we use on a daily basis, and because my students come from a high poverty community, supplies are something that most of my families can't afford.
These donations to my classroom will have a direct impact on each student in my classroom.
They will be able to have sharpened pencils to write with, crayons to illustrate with, books to read and enjoy, and literacy manipulative's to foster their learning of reading and writing. The manipulative's will create engaging, fun, and educational centers, that my students will be able to enjoy on a daily basis. These centers will give each student extra support in subjects that are the backbone of learning.
