My second grade students come from diverse cultural backgrounds and various types of home-life environments. Some of my students are English-Language Learners and need to use various modalities (visual, auditory, Kinesthetic, Tactile) to achieve academic success.
I love that my students have a desire to do their best, are excited about learning, and that they enjoy being in school.
Financial challenges, however, oftentimes get in the way of my students being able to purchase many needed supplies such as computers, books and school supplies and to be able to experience attending events outside the classroom (theater, museums) that will provide them with prior knowledge (a key component that helps students achieve higher academic outcomes.)
I want my students to not only be in a positive, learning environment but to have all the materials and supplies they need in order to thrive in their learning, growth and development and thereby achieve life success.
My Project
This Store and Display Teaching Cart will help students to work collaboratively on group projects to write, design graphic organizers, write/solve math word problems and create artwork. In addition, the Teaching Cart will enhance student social skills, as students working together will enable them to be prepared for communications skills needed to pursue their careers. The Heavy-Duty Book Bins will help to keep the classroom clean, organized and will allow easy, safe access to reading materials and supplies. The Listening Center is crucial to my students, as it will be used to improve their auditory, visual and reading, thinking, and comprehension skills.
