Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of our students will be first generation college students, who might even be the first in their family to graduate from high school. Our students are very bright, dedicated, hardworking, and strive for success. Our school is a Title 1, low-income, high minority, and high free/reduced lunch school. Our goal in the college center is to help encourage and guide as many students to college, whether it be a 2 year college, a 4 year university, or a trade school. Of the 701 students, over 500 have already applied or have started the process of applying to college and applying for financial aid. Many of our students have worked really hard on applications, financial aid, and outside scholarships to make their dreams a reality. There have been over 1500 applications submitted to colleges and universities, and many acceptance letters.
Help the College Center celebrate the achievements of the senior class during Decision Day!
This event is for students attending a junior college, a university, a trade school, or going in to the military. We want to reward the seniors with prizes for working so hard and help to alleviate some of the costs that going to school can bring.
My Project
These materials will help my students to transition from high school to college. Because we can't give all our students these items, we are raffling them to the students during our Decision Day on May 23rd, where the seniors announce where they are going to school or what military branch they are joining.
We want to help provide our seniors with necessary supplies for college, university, or trade school to ease their financial burden.
Thinking about how to pay for college is already stressful, so that is why we are trying to provide our students with items that will help them succeed, so that they have one less thing to worry about.
Your donation would be very much appreciated and will help our seniors be successful after high school by allowing them to concentrate on doing well in school and not on the cost of necessary items. Thank you for all that you do!
