Help me give my students a touch screen laptop that will help them present their mathematical reasoning to the class more clearly from their desks!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Do you remember the unbridled joy you felt when you finally solved a challenging math problem? Or the passionate arguments you used to make your peers understand why your solution was correct? Well in my classroom, in this Title I school, students are constantly improving their skills.
Every day my 8th grade students are strengthening their reasoning skills and developing perseverance as they collaborate on solving rigorous math problems.
They love to work in groups on tasks or projects that infuses multiple learning styles and allows for student choice and creativity.
In this K-8 school, around 90 percent of students are Black or Hispanic decent. In addition, there is a large Special Education and English Language Learner population. All my 8th graders (General Ed and IEP students) are taking the Algebra 1 Regents course. Therefore, providing resources that will reach every student's learning needs, and help them take advantage of the opportunity to earn high school credit in middle school is the goal for this project.
This laptop will help my students in many ways during in person or remote instruction. Showing your thinking is the foundational backbone of Algebra. Providing safe and functional ways for students to still collaborate and share their thinking is what I'm striving for.
Students could use the touch screen to collaborate with their peers on the same problem, by showing their reasoning to mathematical problems on applications like Jamboard, while still maintaining a social distance.
Remotely, I could use the touch screen to create more dynamic and engaging lessons that infuses technology and math. Math is very precise, so the ability to easily and accurately express equations and graphs online is very important. Help me to continue to develop strong mathematical reasoning and precision in my students with a touchscreen laptop.
