Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is located in an urban area in an economically depressed part of our city. Our students come to school ready to learn despite the challenges and obstacles they must face before getting to school each day. Most do not have access to the electronic devices that many of us take for granted. Sometimes they even struggle with regular school supplies such as paper and pencils.
The students are motivated by technology apps and devices for doing all kinds of educational projects but few devices let students use them to show work in mathematics.
Although there are some Chromebooks and iPads in some classrooms, it is hard to work on math practice digitally. As someone said recently "you can't type math."
I want to provide the Rocketbook Wave as a means of solving this dilemma. By using this product, my students will be able to use the notebook to work out problems in class, organize their notes in the cloud, and submit their handwritten math work to me through Google Classroom. I will no longer be using an excessive amount of paper and parents will appreciate that the book is reusable.
My Project
My students will be inspired to use this technology to work out problems in class, organize their notes in the cloud, and submit their handwritten math work to me through Google Classroom.
It is the perfect marriage of traditional and new technology.
Students will be using the notebook to create their handwritten work but will be able to use cloud technology to turn it in to their digital homework repository (Google Classroom).
Cloud storage will assist those students who struggle with organization and papers will not be lost in the bottom of the backpack nor will homework be eaten by the dog.
