My students need a carpet to sit comfortably on it an read stories. A bilingual carpet would be really helpful. It would help students to review Spanish vocabulary.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
How would you feel sitting on the cold hard floor to read a book? Not very pleasant right? That is what my little students have to do. I teach pre-k through 8th grade. My desks are high and chairs too big for my pre-k, kindergarten and first graders.
Please help!
All my students are African American who attend a urban elementary school in the city of Chicago. Our school is a low income school with 100% receiving free or reduced lunch (meaning the low poverty line). My school does not have the funds to provide a carpet for my classroom.
My Project
We need a carpet for our reading time. A carpet would make our reading time more pleasant. Students would focus more on the story and not on the cold hard floor. Students would share multicultural stories that would help them to understand better other cultures and language.
This project is incredibly important for these little ones.
It would be a tool to improve and love "reading". A bilingual carpet would not be only comfortable to sit on but it also would help my students to review Spanish vocabulary and a great visual aid with colorful pictures and words.
