This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I love the tenacity my students display everyday. My students have had six art teachers in the last three years.
Art is so very crucial in today's academic curriculum.
I started at my position a little after the school year began and knew right away all these students wanted was some consistency and someone who cared.. It has been quite a challenge but together, we have made some great strides.

My Project
Learning about the great American artist, Alexander Calder, will inspire my students to think outside the box when creating their own art work. Learning about weight distribution and balance while being creative, brings in the cross curriculum component that helps to round out he education the students will get from this lesson unit.
I will provide my students with an overview presentation of Mr. Calder's revolutionary approach to making his renowned, innovative sculptures.
The supplies purchased will serve to provide the students with all the materials needed to create their own mobiles. Exposing students of today, to different and exceptional art, will help to open their minds to new and exciting art. The paint brushes will provide necessary supplies for painting projects throughout the year.
