Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager to learn and willing to try, but they have the odds stacked against them to succeed. Your generous support can help my student students be successful.
I am a fourth-grade teacher in a low-income urban area in New Jersey and more than 90% of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
My students cannot afford to purchase the necessary supplies for the classroom. I have general education students as well as students learning the English Language in my classroom.
Our school is in an urban area. Many of my students are reading at 2-3 grade levels below 4th grade. Despite these challenges, the climate of our school is nurturing and sets high expectations for all students.
My Project
I am requesting two Echo Dots and an Echo Dot voice remote for use in the classroom. These Echo Dots will be an excellent learning tool in the classroom, especially for English Language Learners (ELLs). They will help promote language development and background knowledge. This will help keep students engaged and help all students become proficient in English.
Amazon's Echo Dots can be used in a variety of educational purposes; Alexa, the robot, behind the Echo Dot, can play trivia with students, share how to spell words, share current events in other countries, or even tell students what happened on this day in history.
