I am currently a first year teacher, and very blessed to teach a classroom full of energetic and eager 1st graders. I teach at a rural school where we are in need of new technology for our students. We have a lot of fun learning in my class with traditional and modern learning technologies. My class is made up of a variety of students from different socioeconomic classes and my goal is to reach every student's need based on their learning style. Many of our loving kiddos only get exposed to technology while at school, so these projects help my kids utilize their energy in a new way.
While there are so many different learning styles in my classroom, we all have a common goal and that is to succeed!
My hope is that this project helps meet the needs of all my students.
My Project
The possibilities are endless with an Alexa in the classroom, it would allow a variety of tools to help me and my students each day. For example, if we had an Alexa we could ask her questions related to Earth, space, weather, environmental science, math, authors and famous artists! I could have Alexa choose a number for me at random to choose a student to answer a question. I witnessed students in one classroom choose an animal and Alexa asked the students questions to try to guess the animal. Alexa can also have you pick a number and she asks questions like "Is the number even or odd?" She could help us make lists of things we needed to do for the day. She can set a timer for us. She can read us a story. She can give us daily weather reports. Most importantly, Alexa will bring voice assistance technology to our classroom which frees me up to be more hands-on with my students at their desks or in small groups.
