Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic and eager learners. They live in a low socioeconomic area and our classrooms are one of the few places where opportunities to enrich their lives and improve their chances at future success can occur.
My on-going mission is to try to provide my students with as many hands-on experiences as possible.
I am constantly trying to find new ways to challenge my students to better themselves so that they are proud of their achievements and growth. Many of these students would not have access to these resources and experiences without my help. Due to the extremely tight budgets within our school district, my students are challenged with limited resources.
My Project
My students have established new reading goals for themselves and now they are in need of new and exhilarating books to help them meet their goals.
Students need quality literature in their lives to help them build the drive and love for reading that will propel them into whatever educational path they choose in the future.
My students are on a mission to refine their reading skills. They devour books by the dozens. They particularly love titles that will launch them on a new adventure or give them a great belly laugh with zany characters. They really need books to engage their love for reading. These books will be used in conjunction with our Accelerated Reader program that will hold them accountable for their comprehension of the stories they read. Also, these new titles will definitely make an impact on their reading fluency through daily, necessary practice. Essentially, new titles will lead to reading goals being met by my students.
