Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students here are enrolled at a Title I school with large concentrations of low-income students that already receive supplemental funds to assist in meeting student’s educational goals. On the other hand, the outlet I see for many of students is sports, especially running. The majority of my students, albeit young, are extremely talented runners and they have an opportunity to go to the university on an athletic scholarship for the sport of cross-country and/or track and field.
My Project
Having the different sets of adequate equipment gives me the opportunity as a coach to implement better training regimens for my student-athletes. For instance, I could have them engaged in a simple game of tag using the noodle to work on cardio-respiratory conditioning. Further, I can teach them how to improve their running economy, such as stride frequency and length.
In running, stride length is important, but so is lower limb strength and with these various equipment sets I could implement a specific training regimen, where my athlete's jump run, or throw and increase overall fitness of the student-athletes.
All in all, the various equipment would be a great commodity for the student athlete's to use in their training.
