Airway Training Mannequin to Help Students Learn to Save Lives

My Students

We are a farm-based, inner city school giving students hands-on opportunities to work with plants and animals. Many of our students are from disadvantaged backgrounds, broken families, and families with drug and alcohol issues. Students love the school and feel it is a place of refuge from the challenges they face at home.

Students are encouraged to create projects that they can run in conjunction with their classes.

My Project

These items are needed for the Red Cross Emergency Medical Responder course that will be taught at our high school next semester. The mannequin and airway are used to teach the proper placement of an emergency airway in an unconscious victim. This is a skill that requires finesse and should not be practiced on real people. A mannequin ensures proper placement of the airway.

This course is a CTE course which provides college credit and results in a certificate of completion which can enhance employment options and save lives.

All of the curriculum follows Red Cross guidelines.
