Air Quality For Health and Safety Within the Ceramic Studio

My students need an air purifier to help maintain a healthier and safer air quality within the ceramic studio that produces silica dust (microscopic rock particles).

My Students

A typical day in my ceramics class is using the first 10 min. for deep introspection, participating in breathing exercises to prepare, relax and focus students. Then 35 min. of a concentrated work period. last 10 min. taking responsibility to maintain a clean organized studio.

My students are a racially, ethnically, economically diverse group of individuals who range from special needs to gifted intelligence.

My students are highly motivated, respectful, and responsible students who have been learning how to maintain the cleanliness and organization of a communal studio, about process and creating art through ceramics and pottery. My students are amazing and I love my classes. I want to help ensure that they have a healthy and safe learning environment.

My Project

Very simple. The air purifier is to help ensure that the students have the safest and healthiest air quality that we can provide for them. This will help tremendously. Currently our classroom does not have proper exhaust fans so to compensate, getting an industrial air purifier will be my best attempt to create a safer environment.

Our studio is an older academic classroom that does not have proper ventilation for the microscopic rock particles floating in the air from the Silica found in clay.

This is a health concern that can be reduced by having an air purifier that can filter the square footage of this room. This will create a healthier and safer studio for the 240 students and the teacher that work in this space. This will make a difference. Thank you for you consideration.
