This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A classroom with cleaner air will make a difference in my students%u2019 health and enhance their learning experiences. I teach in a working class neighborhood where the air quality is not the greatest and in which many of the young suffer from asthma. This year I%u2019m assigned to the same classroom which is located on the 4th floor of an Annex with no central air. My room is quite dusty even when it is cleaned every morning. Last year, my students developed coughs, colds and these were easily spread amongst themselves. One of my colleagues from the main building mentioned that air purifiers were donated to her class and it really made a big difference. I am requesting the donation of two air purifier with filters so that my students can breathe cleaner air and thus they can be provided with a better learning environment. The reason why I am asking for two is because they will be placed on each side of the room. I will be teaching second grade again and from my experience of last year, I%u2019m sure that some of my news students will be asthmatic and the purifiers will benefit them as well. With a cleaner environment my 28 students will be able to stay healthier and avoid absences and increase their participation in the classroom. Thus cleaner air induces quality work.
